How do you know God?
1 John 4:8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. (KJV)
How do you love God?
Matthew 18:2-3 And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them,
And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.
God wants unconditional love from us.
God’s ten commandments hang on two things: loving God and our neighbor as ourselves.
John 14:15 says, “If ye love me, keep my commandments.”
You must love Him first to keep His commandments. God wants a natural family relationship with us based on love for Him like He loves us.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
God’s grace is Him sending His Son to die for the sins of the world. Faith is us believing in him. We demonstrate our faith by obeying His words to us.
“If ye love me, keep my commandments.”–John 14:15 (KJV).
I John 2:3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. (KJV)
1 John 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.(KJV)
No one will enter back into the kingdom without keeping all ten of God’s commandments.
Matthew 7:21-23
21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
I John 2:4-7
4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
:6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.
:7 Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning.
Remember the stone initially written upon represents the permanency of these ten commandments; they define sin. Nothing we could do could work off our sin penalty, but by His grace He stepped in and sent His Son to pay the price in place of us.
I John 3:1 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God (children of God): therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
We know we are not of this world, we are the children of God.
:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God (children of God), and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when He shall appear, we shall be like Him; for we shall see Him as he is.
When Yeshua returns, you will possess His character through the help of the Holy Spirit.
I Corinthians 6:9-11
9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,
10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.
11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.
I John 3:4
4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
The subject here are the Ten Commandments.
:5 And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.
He didn’t come to encourage your sin, He came to take it away.
:6 ***Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.
7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
1 John 3:8-9
8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
The commandments are actually a whole law. It’s all or none.
James 2:10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.
:11 For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law.
Matthew 15:9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
The ones who practice sinning and claim to worship God do so in vain.
