“I will reclaim my rightful place in Paradise. My path will be paved with the sins of Man, and yours, Dante, shall be the bedrock of my return. And all that is good shall be gone from the universe forever!”

                                                                     ― Dante Alighieri, Inferno

Although Satan messed up, God still communicates with him which the book of Job 1:6-12 reveals. God did not react in anger and destroy him off the face of the universe. God allows Satan to try his case in court: before the host of heaven. What is Satan hoping to attain. He already lost the battle in trying to overtake the kingdom of God yet God has not destroyed him.

Luke 10:18  And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.

Satan attempts to destroy God’s name in the garden of Eden Genesis 3:1-5.

Satan tries to convince Adam and Eve that God isn’t who He says that He is. He is not a God of love. He is not worthy of the name He goes by. Adam and Eve doubted God’s name; God’s actual character is his name. They lost faith in God and opted out of obedience to God. They decided that God could not be trusted and sided with trusting Lucifer (Satan).

Satan is trying to prove that we all have a right to distrust God and to live by our own rules in this world. Satan is saying why be a slave to God and a servant of God when you can possess the freedom to serve yourself according to your own rules set by you. He places doubt in our minds about God. Adam and Eve chose to doubt God and believe Satan’s lies against God.

This shift in their thinking as well as ours resulted in our separation and parting from the ways of God, which produced within us for the first time a sense of fear, guilt and shame.  These feelings continue today, which did not exist when we walked with God in His kingdom in a garden paradise. These undesirable attributes only exist in the presence of the king of this world better known as Satan.

Why does God tolerate Satan’s theories and lies to continue against Him? Why didn’t God immediately destroy Satan?

Satan argues that beings serve Yahweh because of the good that they get from God. If God took away His goodness, we would no longer serve Him. Satan argued about three to four thousand years ago that Job’s righteousness results from the benefits he receives from God not because of love for Yahweh alone.

Job 1:8-11
The LORD said to Satan, “Have you considered My servant Job? For there is no one like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, fearing God and turning away from evil.” Then Satan answered the LORD, “Does Job fear God for nothing? “Have You not made a hedge about him and his house and all that he has, on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land. read more.
“But put forth Your hand now and touch all that he has; he will surely curse You to Your face.”

God allowed Satan to test Job.  God’s words stood true and Satan’s word shown false regarding Job’s faithfulness to God.  Nevertheless Satan continues to perpetuate His lies against the name of God.

God’s name or character fell under verbal warfare by Satan before the host of heaven.  Doubts cause some of us to walk away from God following Satan while others are left in heaven to wonder who’s right God or Satan?  How can God’s name simultaneously represent both love and justice if God must now bar His children who sinned against Him from His presence and destroy those who disobey by fire.

What kind of loving God is this?  Is His love really love?  Is God who He says that He is?

Chaos broke out in paradise and God allows the process to play out for all to see for thousands of years before He will finally take steps to destroy the sinners and obliterate the rebels that rose up against Him, His good name and His character of love.   Many of us like a quick court case, but God is allowing the evidence to gather and for sinners to see the truth before judging them guilty.  God wishes every sinner will see the truth, repent and return to the kingdom via the cross of calvary payed by the blood sacrifice of Jesus Christ our savior.

“God in his infinite mercy has devised a way by which justice can be satisfied, and yet mercy can be triumphant. Jesus Christ, the only begotten of the Father, took upon himself the form of man, and offered unto Divine Justice that which was accepted as an equivalent for the punishment due to all his people.” Charles Spurgeon

Will God’s name and character of love withstand Satan’s arguments among the host of heaven?

God sent Jesus to die for our sins so we could return back into His presence with Him in Heaven.

Both love and justice can coexist because the wages of sin is payed, and God makes a way to rescue us from our sins demonstrating His love and mercy towards us.

Satan probably did not expect God to send Jesus to die for us to save us from our sins against Him.

2 Thessalonians 1:6-8 God is just: He will pay back trouble to those who trouble you and give relief to you who are troubled, and to us as well. This will happen when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven in blazing fire with his powerful angels. He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.
