How are the ten commandments like a mirror?

When you look in the mirror, you can see the dirt on your face to clean it.  The mirror cannot remove the dirt from your face.  The Ten Commandments cannot remove iniquity against God from you.  Only Yeshua’s (Jesus’) shed blood at Calvary can wash you free from sin.  The mirror helps you to see the dirt on your face so you can clean it.  The ten commandments help you to recognize and know what sin against God actually looks like.  

The Penalty Of sin Is Death.

The penalty of sin or lawlessness is death.  Yeshua (Jesus) is the only way to an eternal life with God free from fear of death. 

Yeshua does not expect You and me to willfully continue living a life of sin.  He expects us to repent and turn from sinning.  He died to cleanse us from our sin so we can live new lives empowered by Him.  He will not die again for you or me if we refuse to walk away from a sinful lifestyle.  

God makes His words very clear in the Bible that sinners will not enter the Kingdom of Heaven!

For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie. (Revelation 22:15)

Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,

10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. (I Corinthians 6:9-10)

Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. (Galatians 5:19-21)

He expects you and me to repent and walk away from a life of sin and return to a life of holiness and righteousness with the power of God’s Holy Spirit changing you and me day by day into the character of Yeshua (Jesus).  

So when others see you and me, they see Him. They see the Father living in us.  

For you may be sure of this, that everyone who is sexually immoral or impure, or who is covetous (that is, an idolater), has no inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. (Ephesians 5:5)

God’s Ten Commandments Stand

God’s ten commandments stand despite Satan’s lies to us!  God is not the author of confusion.

understanding this, that the law is not laid down for the just but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who strike their fathers and mothers, for murderers, (1 Timothy 1:9)

God will not allow us to walk in sin thinking foolishly we will enter His kingdom, but Satan will convince us that sin doesn’t matter–God’s grace is sufficient to return to the kingdom living a life of sin.

We Must Repent And Change  

We must repent and change from our sinful ways through the help of the power of God’s Spirit.  

The Spirit empowers us to walk in love in a manner pleasing to God and worthy of the kingdom.

Strive for peace with everyone, and for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord. (Hebrews 12:14)

All ten commandments hang on these two encompassing commands: love God and love your neighbor as yourself.  Love must reign within us not sin.

The law acts like a mirror to helps us to know what sin looks like.  The law cannot remove the dirt of sin. Sin leads to death: separation from God.  The commandments will not pass away as long as the earth and heaven exist.  We must reject sin and turn back to God.  God will teach us and empower us to love like He loves.  We will strive for peace.  We will reflect God’s love and others will know that we are the children of God.  The Holy Spirit will write God’s laws of love in our hearts so that we will not sin against God. We will love righteousness and hate sin.
