How did Jesus describe this enemy of God?
John 10:10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy.
John sent by God shares the truth.
John 1:6 “There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.”
John came from the kingdom of God to Earth with a mission from God.
John teaches about who sent him to the earth, who sent Yeshua (Jesus) here and ultimately who we really are in the book of John.
John 20:21 “Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.”
Who sent Jesus here?
Who sent us here?
Who sent John to this earth?
God sent them from the kingdom to the earth to fulfill a purpose: reconciliation to God. Reconciliation means “to restore friendly relations between…cause to coexist in harmony; make or show to be compatible”…”processes of dealing with the past”–according to the dictionary for the former and Wikipedia for the latter.
Humans belong to God; however, we fell short in God’s kingdom. Under the leadership of Satan, we took a gamble and decided to trust Satan’s words over God’s words to us. We thought the ways of Satan and sin more alluring than the ways of God so we left the kingdom by knowingly breaking God’s laws. Thus, we caused a division between ourselves and God. Jesus came to help us understand the truth of why we exist here on earth in flesh form and how to return to God’s kingdom.
Jesus known as Yeshua reconciles believers back to God by paying the penalty for our sin: death at Calvary–the hill outside Jerusalem on which Yeshua was crucified. Yeshua obeyed God’s command reconciling us back to God.
We once belonged to God in heaven long ago. Unfortunately our sins separated us from God. Satan tricked us. God removed us sinners from the kingdom. Yeshua (Jesus) sent us to live with our new master here on Earth to learn that God’s ways of love supersedes Satan’s ways of selfishness and sin. Jesus came to Earth in flesh form to die for the sins of humanity to allow for reconciliation between us and God. Yeshua (Jesus) sent by God gives us the truth. He demonstrates God’s love for us by His interaction with humanity. The writings of His mission accomplished on the day of Calvary lives on today in the Bible.
John 17:1-3, 8 “These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:
2 As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.
3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
8 For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me.”
God made a way for our restoration back into the kingdom by the death of Yeshua (Jesus) on Calvary to pay our sin penalty for us. This is the good news: the promise of eternal life.
I John 2:25 “And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life.”
Paul and other disciples remind us throughout the Bible that God’s kingdom opened up for us when Jesus paid our sin penalty at Calvary. He allows for the reconciliation between us and God when we repent of our sin against God and become baptized. Baptism symbolizes our death of the old self and our commitment to living a new life with God.
So, how can you know for sure you are saved? Well Mark clearly stipulates the signs of fellow believers in Mark 16:15-20 below:
“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God. And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.”
This is a simple explanation of how to be saved. These express Yeshua’s (Jesus’) last words to the apostles before He left to return to the Father. This is the truth! This tells the difference between being saved and being damned!
Our enemy Satan tries to hide the truth from us.
“But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.” (2 Corinthians 11:3)
John and other disciples help us to understand the gospel about what Yeshua (Jesus) has done for us.
“For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.” (John 3:17)
Yeshua (Jesus) was sent here on earth by God to reconcile sinners back to God. Reconcile means to restore friendly relations between or to settle (a disagreement)– between humans and God.

32 But call to remembrance the former days, in which, [after] ye were illuminated, ye endured a great fight of afflictions;
33 Partly, whilst ye were made a gazingstock both by reproaches and afflictions; and partly, whilst ye became companions of them that were so used.

5 Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit.
6 Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:
7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)
8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. (2 Corinthians 5:5-8)
Unfortunately our sins separated us from God. Satan tricked us. We then suddenly were enslaved to Satan and removed from God due to our sin. We could no longer stay in God’s presence and under God’s rulership. God removed us sinners from the kingdom and sent us to live with our new master here on Earth to learn that God’s ways of love supersedes Satan’s ways of selfishness and sin.
Jesus allows us the only way back to God. He sent by God gives us the truth about our fall from grace and allows us to become reconciled back to God the Father.
This is a very good essay. We live in a broken world, but there is still beauty in it because it is still God’s world and God’s creation even though we have to contend with the forces of darkness and evil in the temporal time. God always loves us and wants what is right and good. We can trust God even when circumstances do not favor us. We can remember that we are passing through this world, which God had intended originally as something more wonderful, but now has been corrupted, yet still maintains the sure markings of His Divine design. We can take the best from it, try to do our best and know that our eternal condition is beyond. We have to live while we are hear and endeavor to serve the best we can. Serve God by serving others. Be kind to others….even, and as much as possible when others may not be kind to others. In so doing we bring into this temporal space some of what God had intended originally and reflect, even dimly God’s true character. God is Love.

Thanks Wes, your perspective is certainly true. I appreciate the fact that you emphasize that we ought to continue to serve others and do good in spite of the fact that Satan runs this world. God is still in control. When we as Christians do good in the face of wickedness and serve those in this world, we truly establish the kingdom of God here on Earth. When God’s Holy Spirit moves through us, His kingdom comes upon those we encounter. They in fact can taste a bit of the goodness of God through us.
Although Satan rules this part of God’s kingdom, we can fight back with love and spread God’s kingdom of light amidst the darkness so others can see God’s character of love and seek Him. They can flock to the light and the truth to attain freedom from a darkened world overcome by sin, suffering and death.
We should be the salt of the earth and the light of the world. Yes, God is indeed LOVE!
